SEARS — Donna Lou Lloyd, of Sears, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. She was 87.
Donna Lou was born April 24, 1931 in Evart to Lawrence Levi and Mary Rebecca (Woods) Peel. She graduated from Evart High School in 1949. Donna Lou married H. Dale (Chub) Lloyd May 20, 1950 in Barryton and he preceded her in death in 2013. Chub and Lou owned and operated several businesses in the area. Donna Lou also attended Central Michigan University. She was a gifted musician and piano instructor and had played organ at hundreds of funerals and weddings. She was a member of The Sears Trio, recording artists of several albums and members of the Gospel Music Association. Chub and Lou were founding members of the Sears Church of God. Donna Lou loved being near her family and enjoyed camping and horses.
Mrs. Lloyd is survived by her daughter, Becky (James) Lloyd Cripps of Kalamazoo, three sons, Lawrence (Jill) Lloyd of Ludington, James Lloyd of Gainesville, Florida, Andrew (Lorel) Lloyd of Parker City, Indiana, 16 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband H. Dale (Chub) Lloyd, her brother Gerald Peel, and her granddaughter, Lauryn Lloyd.
Funeral services honoring the life of Donna Lou Lloyd are 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21 at the Sears Church of God with Dr. William Jones officiating. Visitation is Wednesday noon until time of services at the church. Donna Lou will be laid to rest next to her husband in Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart. Memorial contributions in Donna Lou’s name may be directed to the Sears Church of God.
