Richard Foster

Grade: 11

Sports and positions: Cross country and track — pole vault, 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles, high jump

How long have you been playing the sport? Cross country one year, track 5th year

What is your most memorable moment while playing? Cross country — I ran a PR and had a cramp in the second mile. My teammates passed me and I passed them for third runner. Track — My sophomore year at the conference meet, we won it by a three-way tie for first.

Who are your role models and why? My role model would be Thiago Braz da Silva (Brazilian pole vaulter) because he has an understanding of the entire theory, and won gold and also got a new world record.

What is your favorite subject in school and why? Math, because you get to learn to solve new problems every day or learn a new way to solve that problem.

What advice would you give a younger person just starting out in sports? Go hard in practice, because it does pay off and have fun while doing your sport.

What are your plans for the future? Attend Ferris State University for electrical engineering and get my bachelor’s degree.
