EVART — An Osceola County resident had an unwanted encounter with an eight-legged intruder last week that required emergency intervention.
According to a weekly police report published by the Evart Police Department, the April 5 encounter resulted in officers being dispatched to a nearby home to deal with the pest.
While the “alleged arachnid” was gone upon officer’s arrival, the caller was informed that this is not a police matter and constitutes misuse of the 911 system.
The caller was also informed that further misuse could lead to an arrest and carries a hefty fine and/or jail time.
The story was repeated in media circles earlier this week in Grand Rapids and as far as Miami.
As for the spider, it’s still at large.
